With this project you will choose your most promising “Meaningful Words” explorations and turn the word expressions into type-driven advertisements.
In order to to do this, you will need to create a context in order for the word message to become an advertisement. In other words, determine an appropriate sender and an audience for the message which is being conveyed by the chosen word exploration.
Once you have brainstormed several possibilities, you will need to write up a specific Project Brief
for two distinct print advertisements. You can download a Project Brief template from the Class Content section of the class blog. The specifications for the ad are full page, 8.5x11 vertical, full color. The magazine the ad will appear in will be determined by your audience.
You can use photo(s) and/or image(s) to visual the context for the advertisement, but the dominant communicator and visual element in the ad must be an adaptation and/or refinement of your type-driven word exploration.
Be sure to post all project design process, including your project brief, thumbnails, rough designs and final advertisements on your class blog, as you work on the project.
The final two ads will be due post to your blog, and printed out and hung on the crib wall by the beginning of class, Tuesday, January 28th.
